The weather’s warming up and you know what that means – time to talk about sunscreen (even though we’re wearing sunscreen all year long… right??) Well here’s my first sunscreen review of 2025: Undefined Beauty’s R&R Sun Creme. [PR – gifted by the Bonita Project]

tl;dr
- $22 for 1.7oz bottle, SPF50
- Available at Ulta, Target, and Urban Outfitters
- thick cream texture with no white cast
- ☆ not for me, better suited for normal/dry skin types
Remember that Philly creators event I attended in February? This was one of the products gifted to me in my swag bag. I hadn’t heard of this brand before but was interested to learn more about it, and to test out a new sunscreen.
Undefined Beauty Brand Background
Undefined Inc. was founded in 2018 by Dorian Morris (shout out to Black women founders 🙌🏾). Her brand aims to use “clean-ical formulas to boost, brighten, and protect your skin barrier”. Basically, the brand blends plant-based ingredients with active ingredients to create affordable and effective skincare products. (I wish they’d just say that instead of making up a silly marketing word like “clean-ical” that doesn’t mean anything)
They also claim that their products are non-toxic, cruelty free, and sustainably sourced, along with a few other popular buzzwords. If those characteristics are important to you when considering a beauty brand to support, then you’ll be happy to see these symbols on the packaging.

Seeing “non-toxic” and “clean” used in skincare marketing is a turn-off for me, as I detail in this post I wrote back in 2020. Long story short: there are a lot of factors that go into the toxicity of a product, so claiming “non-toxic” in a generic sense is scientifically inaccurate, and misleading to customers. Also, there’s no definition for “clean”, and it implies that other products are “dirty”, when they aren’t. I’ll still try products that use those marketing terms (if the product works, it works), but I’ll be side-eyeing the brand the whole time.
Undefined R&R Sun Creme Info
This product is a broad spectrum SPF 50 that costs $22 for 1.7oz/50mL. Broad spectrum means it protects against both UVA & UVB rays. The formula has chemical filters Homosalate, Octocrylene, Octyl Salicylate, & Avobenzone.
It’s packaged in a plastic squeeze bottle with a nozzle tip, which is great if you use the 2-3 finger trick to measure out sunscreen. Some people may also use the nozzle to apply the sunscreen directly to the face, but that’s not something I recommend. Adding possible germs from your face onto the product packaging where it could get inside the formula and recontaminate your face on later applications sounds like a bad idea imo.

This sunscreen is packed with skincare ingredients, including niacinamide, CoQ10, licorice root, resveratrol, and ceramides. On the Undefined website, they claim that this sunscreen will “hydrate, replenish, brighten, repair, and protect against modern day agressors”. I can’t speak to any of those skin improving claims since I didn’t use the product consistently enough to test for myself.
Undefined Sun Creme Application
For my first time trying this SPF, I layered it over a lightweight moisturizer: Lipid Gold from Stratia. In hindsight, I didn’t need another moisturizer underneath as the sunscreen is a VERY thick cream. My combination skin would’ve been fine with just a lightweight serum underneath this cream.
Once blended, it doesn’t leave a white cast on my skin tone which is great. I’ve got combination skin so thick textures like this aren’t my favorite to use on my face. This smells very slightly of sunscreen but there’s no fragrance to the product. Throughout the day I did feel my eyes start stinging, which happens to me with most sunscreens tbh.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this product isn’t for me. The thick cream texture was too much for my combination skin in warmer weather. I also don’t want to spend over $20 for less than 2oz of sunscreen. The added skincare ingredients are nice, but not enough for me to continue using this product.
I think if you’ve got drier or more mature skin, you want some skincare benefits without needing to layer multiple products, and you don’t mind spending a little extra per bottle, this would be a good sunscreen for you. I saw on their website that they also sell a lightweight sun serum, so I’d be curious to see if that works better for my skin type.
